Supreme Court hearing on the appeal of the Imre Nagy trial of 1958
The Presidential Committee of the Supreme Court rules that the petition of the Chief Prosecutor in objection to the legality of the Imre Nagy trial is founded, and thereby overrules the sentence of Imre Nagy, Ferenc Donáth, Miklós Gimes, Zoltán Tildy, Pál Maléter, Sándor Kopácsi, Ferenc Jánosi, Miklós Vásárhelyi and József Szilágyi, who are acquitted in the absence of a crime. During the hearing participants receive news of János Kádár’s death, who after a long illness dies the very hour Imre Nagy is legally rehabilitated.
